The pilot of Elektrick Lolita has only been up one day and I'm already getting questions about how a capitalistic society is able to exist within the VAG, a science-worshiping Libertarian commune. While there are business within the VAG, they are all non-profit and owned by the scientists themselves. Since the U.S. government sends the scientists absolutely anything they want, there is no need for conventional business. The misleadingly named Consumerplex is more of a hub where requested items can be retrieved for free from familiar surroundings. All menial employees are robotic and thus pay is no issue. The "businesses" are just managed by the scientists as free services. Little slices of old Earthling life on Venus.
